Following in the careful footsteps of historic pioneers who made it possible to share the unforgettable experience of an African safari with the creation of national parks and game reserves at the end of the 19th century, Laba Laba offers guests effortless luxury in the modern concept of ‘slow safari’ at the lesser discovered nature reserves of Tanzania and their exclusive island retreat. Laba Laba means butterfly in Yoruba, their role to increase biodiversity in the African landscape and fauna, treasured and safeguarded in each tailor-made safari experience.

Out of Africa Legend brings guests closer to nature, offering all the sensations of a classic safari from the beginning of the last century. The 14 spacious fixed tents are deliberately ground-based and set far apart to give guests the feel of an authentic safari, designed on a mobile camp yet permanent, inviting simplicity to blend with chic décor and comfort. The new brand of LABA Explorer based in the north of Tanzania will create a northern safari circuit, inviting adventurers who enjoy the concept of ‘slow safari’ to spend 2 to 3 nights at each camp enjoying the hallmarks of Laba Laba including experienced guides, organic meals and fine wines. Here, the focus is on a pure safari experience, where opulence is simplified with authentic elegance and where the 180° view is sublime.

ABOUT Serengeti NATIONAL PARK

The Serengeti Park is a magnet for the 1,600,000 wildebeest who take refuge in Kenya during the dry season. They return in long procession with the rains, in search of fresh grass and this annual migration is the park's most striking natural phenomenon. The park is also home to the Big Five as well as hyena, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, birds of prey and many other species. This profusion of animals has generated ecotourism which Tanzania is carefully guarding through protection policies.

Activities & SAFARI EXPERIENCES

Guests can take the full-board package or choose the game package with different activities which enables them to enjoy a range of safari activities each day - perhaps experience the earthly connection with nature, tracking the footprints of wild animals on a walking safari, maybe a half or full day shared game drive with picnic lunch, travelling in a mythical old Land Rover. The Land Rovers have been rebuilt to bring a touch of vintage charm to safari and are powered by three types of energy: diesel to start the engine in cold weather, ethanol for everyday driving and electric, being green, silent and respectful of wildlife so abundant in this region. This is a world first for safari vehicles. Guests can also opt for a private game drive or glide over the bush landscape in an exhilarating hot-air balloon safari at additional cost.

Accommodation

Tented accommodation is part of the original safari experience and at Out of Africa Legend the authentic charm of traditional safari captures all the senses.  There are 12 standard tents and 2 family tents with the indulgent comfort of organic cotton bedding and 2 bathrooms per tent equipped with a miniature copper bathtub and hot water is available on request with pampering bathroom amenities by Organic Healing EARTH™.
